A fifth grade class formed clay dragons today. Clay is a challenge here in the art room, because students need to complete the project in one day. There isn't a good way to store partially finished project for a week until the next art class . I am always amazed at how these young artists rise to the challenge. Their dragon could be a sea dragon, have wings, horns, and be fierce or cute and cuddly. It was required that large chunks be hollow, score and slip be used to attach pieces, and a texture be applied to the dragon surface. It will be several weeks until these are dry and fired. This first step looks great!
