First Grade Raggedy Ann's and Andy's

First grade drew some darling Raggedy's last week. It was an opportune time to review basic shapes as we used them to draw our figures. This week we are learning about Primary colors and painting our Raggedy's using puck temperas. Each class period I am reading aloud a Raggedy story by Johnny Gruelle. As I read, children take turns holding a giant Ann or Andy rag doll. We saw that each Raggedy has a heart with an "I love you" stitched on it.  This is one of my favorite projects, as smiling rag doll faces come to life all over my classroom!  More to come!
